Ah, Purimgifts is upon us. Here are a few recs from my browsing session as well as a few other things I've been reading lately.

Title: That Seeks You Out and Names You
Author: Poetry
Fandom: Star Wars
Ship: Stormpilot
Rating: General Audiences
Content Warnings: Mentions of Finn's Stormtrooper Childhood
Other Tags: Post-Movies, Character Study, First Kiss, Drabble Sequence, 5 Things
Length: over 500 (complete, 1 chapter)
Summary: Five times Finn learned about names.
Link
I know 505 words is a pretty short piece, but trust me, Poetry uses every one of them wisely. Finn is an A+ boy always, and this fic is no exception. I just loved reading all these drabbles and seeing Finn's character grow.

Title: Shieldmaidens of Ithilien
Author: Anonymous (to be revealed once Purimgifts is complete)
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Ship: Eowyn/Faramir
Rating: General Audiences
Content Warnings: N/A
Other Tags: N/A
Length: over 700 (complete, 1 chapter)
Summary: One morning, Eowyn sees something in Ithilien that gives her an idea that will shape the future of her lands.
Link
In this house we love Eowyn, Slayer of the Witch King and we also love men supporting their wives and breaking gender stereotypes.

Title: Aster for Devotion
Author: Gefionne
Fandom: Star Wars
Ship: Kylux
Rating: Mature
Content Warnings: N/A
Other Tags: Modern AU, Flower Shop and Tattoo Parlour AU, Age Difference
Length: over 6k (incomplete, 1 chapter)
Summary: Hux is the proprietor of Arkanian Flowers, a shop of good reputation downtown. When a tattoo parlor opens up across the street, he’s sure it’ll drive down business, but instead it brings a new customer: a very tall, very broad, very tattooed young man named Kylo. Hux is certain Kylo wouldn’t be interested in an older man, but Kylo comes to the shop for more than just the flowers.

I've always loved Gefionne's writing, and this fic is just a lot of fun! It's some of the softest kylux I've ever seen (so naturally, I'm living for it), and I love the tension of Hux feeling self-conscious about his age while also definitely being attracted to Kylo. Good shit, and I can't wait for the next update!

Title: Blue Ruin
Author: inb4invert
Fandom: Fantastic Beasts
Ship: Gradence
Rating: Explicit
Content Warnings: N/A
Other Tags: Hardboiled Crime, Minor Character Death, Murder Case, Eventual Smut, Blow Jobs, Anal Sex, Sex with a Cartoon
Length: over 8k (incomplete, 3 chapters)
Summary: Walking into the Ink and Paint Club was like stepping straight into bedlam. Outside, there was just the regular street and the regular joes who walk it. Inside: a screaming, laughing little piece of Toontown.
Link
I'm fairly certain that no one on this planet asked for or expected this AU, but I'm really digging it! It leans into some of the silliness of Golden Age cartoons and has some great comedy in the spirit of the original Who Framed Roger Rabbit (which is a MASTERPIECE, for the record), but with a nice Gradence edge. Gradence is great as a hardboiled cop, and Credence's sweet persona works so well for him being a former porn cartoon. Also he has a snarky talking cat. What's not to love?

Title: All Who Are Hungry
Author: Anonymous (to be revealed once Purimgifts is complete)
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Ship: N/A
Rating: General Audiences
Content Warnings: N/A
Other Tags: Jewish AU, Song Parody, The Two Towers
Length: over 900 (complete, 1 chapter)
Summary:“Do you remember, Sam, how Bilbo used to start the holiday at Bag End?”
Inexplicably Jewish hobbits talk about celebrating Pesach, and of course someone has to sing Chad Gadya.
Link
Speaking of fics I never knew I needed: Jewish hobbits! Being Jewish myself, there's so much for me to love about this fic. I don't wanna give away anything, but let's just say there's a certain headcanon about Lembas bread that I wasn't expecting but absolutely fell in love with. Also the song retelling that makes up the bulk of the fic is STUNNING. It's a great read, whether you're Jewish or not.
